Imagine a taste of Europe right in the Grand Rapids community! In early December, this delightful concept will become a reality when the CDKI Dining group opens the doors on to its latest venture, the Basque-inspired Zoko 822 (located at 822 Ottawa Ave NW, next to the old Imperial Metals Building and across the street from the Garage Bar). The restaurant will offer small plate style dining as well as an extensive gin collection featuring more than 30 varieties to choose from.

The kitchen will be led by accomplished local chef, Ryan Martin. Martin made his beginnings working as the Executive Chef at Winchester. As his reputation grew, he went on to become Head Chef at Osteria Rossa in the downtown Grand Rapids area. Martin has since been named as one of Grand Rapid’s Top 10 Chefs to Watch in 2017 by the Grand Rapids Press and MLive contributor George Aquino. Martin will be working closely with Megan McAllister, also formerly of Osteria Rossa as well as the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, who will have the position of Zoko’s General Manager.

The restaurant will be serving lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday and brunch on Sundays. No time to sit down for lunch? Good news! Zoko will also be offering quick grab and go dining options like sandwiches, empanadas, and salads. Or if you’re in the mood for a more formal dining experience, complex dinner dishes will be served in the evenings. And don’t forget to complement your meal with a choice selection from the restaurant’s drink menu.

“We knew we were excited about the concept of Zoko 822, but the amount of interest we’ve already seen from the community is exceptional,” said Geoff Gaskin, president of CDKI Dining. “Our guests and staff are going to be in good hands with Ryan and Megan at the helm. They’re both exceptionally well-versed in what Grand Rapids wants and expects from a dining experience. We look forward to opening our doors this December and welcoming everyone into our new home!”

Zoko is already getting a buzz in the community, promising to be a new dining hotspot. With their fine selection of Northern Spanish and Southern French style dishes, they will be offering the Grand Rapids community an opportunity to enjoy unique and exotic tastes in an upscale setting. Locals should be looking forward to early December for this exciting addition to the city!
