As GR continues to expand, local businesses emerge that integrate different ethnicities, cultures and backgrounds. Today will represent a milestone in this melting pot as its first and only authentic Cuban restaurant will open its doors. Find out more about Danzón Cubano and what it has to offer.
If you are adventurous in your alcohol selection, you will love Danzón Cubano’s extensive selection of Cuban cocktails. Most notable is the ‘Hemingway Especial Martini’ and the ‘Cuba Libre’.
The Hemingway is a drink inspired by the famous author who is said to have ordered this version of a daiquiri in the El Floridita bar. It features Havana Club Blanco, Luxardo, grapefruit juice, simple syrup, lime juice, bruleed grapefruit and rosemary garnish.
The Cuba Libre is a drink created to celebrate Cuba’s independence. If contains Havana Club Blanco, malta Cuban soda and lime. There are a number of other cocktails on the Danzon Cubano drink menu as well as a wide variety of beer and wine.
When it comes to food, the restaurant offers a large selection of Cuban dishes and is open for brunch, lunch and dinner. Choose from their brunch specials, salads, sandwiches, entrees and vegan/vegetarian options. In an effort to continually offer something new to their customers, Danzón Cubano provides a rotating menu which is updated quarterly.
And be sure to pay close attention to their mustard and pickles which are made in house!
But Danzón Cubano isn’t just a place to come to eat. It pays homage to the people of Cuba, their culture, trials and tribulations. To celebrate the culture, the restaurant was named for the Cuban danzon. This is a fast dance rhythm of Cuban origin. To pay tribute to Cuban ethnicity, the restaurant will be offering dancing on a regular basis. Tonight (Friday, October 26th), the dancing starts at 7 PM so be sure to make plans to join the festivities.
Danzon Cubano promises an “intimate and relaxed dining experience that offers something different to locals and foreign patrons and ensures that you enjoy a memorable food experience every time.” But don’t take their word for it. Stop in an check it out yourself!
