The phrase, “we are holding our own, ” refers to the last communication by the steel frigate the Edmund Fitzgerald to the Arthur M. Anderson on 10. November.1975.
This is a recreation of Billy’s last lecture, which was performed at Hope College in 2009. I decided to use this phrase as the title of this performance because I felt it reflected how many are handling life after Billy’s untimely death in 2017. Billy hosted a dinner party every 10. November to bring friends together to eat and commemorate “the Fitz.” Now we bring you together to celebrate, eat and drink and “to hold your own” and remember Billy.
