The Vintage Parlor Orchestra performs Barber, Mendelssohn, Sibelius, and Schubert at NOMAD Gallery.
Performing chamber works and reductions of larger orchestral repertoire, the Vintage Parlor Orchestra is a versatile and talented assembly of local musicians taking classical music out of the concert halls and into breweries, art galleries, mansions, and the historic buildings of West Michigan.
The first half of the concert will feature the VPO strings with Symphony No. 7 in D minor written by a 12 year old Felix Mendelssohn, followed by Samuel Barber’s solemn and meditative “Adagio for Strings”. After intermission, winds will join the orchestra for Jean Sibelius’ haunting “Valse Triste” and the conjuring of Spring with Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major.
