February is here and you know what that means…that’s right, Valentine’s Day. Whether you are looking for something to do with that special someone, trying to find that special someone, looking for an event to attend where you can forget about that no longer special someone, or just want to take time out for yourself, Grand Rapids has events galore. Here are some of our hand-picked recommendations:
//Marilyn Manson with Amazonica//

Known for his bizarre and controversial antics, Marilyn Manson is at it again! Don’t miss your chance to see him at 20 Monroe Live, accompanied by opening act Amazonica. Food and drinks are provided at the venue and VIP experiences are available.

This Valentine’s Day themed event will take place at The Wheelhouse on February 8. Guests are encouraged to wear red and come on down to enjoy live entertainment, cocktails and an appetizer buffet. Admission is $15 and can be purchased at the door.
//55th Ann Arbor Film Festival Traveling Tour//

Now in its 55th year, this film festival, which is brought to you by the Grand Rapids Public Library, showcases independent and experimental films to the community. This year’s event will be taking place at the Wealthy Theatre and is co-hosted by Cinema Lab. Be prepared for everything from the informative to the bizarre! Admission is free and seating is limited. //Jammie Awards XIX//

Get yourself dressed up and ready to part-ay! It’s the 29th annual Jammie Awards, recognizing West Michigan’s best albums of 2017. The event will be held at The Intersection and will feature performances by top local artists as well as an after-party featuring Desmond Jones. Admission is free but suggested donations of $5 will be welcome to support the WYCE community radio station and food donations will be given to Feeding America West Michigan.
//Valent-Ice: A World of Winter Event//

Celebrating winter and the Grand Rapids community, this event showcases 50+ ice sculptures and offers walking and running tours, live ice carvings, giveaways and ice skating. This is a free, not to be missed event that takes place at Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids. Based on the Grow with Google initiative, the workshop is designed to give you full access to all the tools Google has to offer to help you grow your career. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy set the stage for a star-studded talent extravaganza as Disney on Ice presents Reach For The Stars. //Marvel Black Panther Movie Fundraiser//

This is a fundraising event with proceeds going towards the Bragg/Harvard/Muhammad/Smith scholarship which supports developing a civic spirit in students looking towards a career path in the public service field. Guests who attend the event will pay a $20 admission which includes the price of the movie, $4 to go towards food or drinks and an $8 donation towards the foundation.

If you have a passion for art, then check out the Paint Night event happening at The Holiday Bar on February 20. Beer lovers rejoice! The Winter Beer Festival returns to the Grand Rapids area! Come to the Fifth Third Ballpark to enjoy close to 1,000 craft beers provided by over 100 Michigan breweries. There will also be local entertainment, ice sculptures, carving demonstrations, fire pits to keep guests warm and food for purchase.
