Filipino Lantern Workshop and Parade Comes to Grand Rapids Dec. 2


This holiday season, their Filipino community will be taking center stage with the GR Filipino Parol Lantern Parade and Lantern Workshop. Both events will be taking place on Dec. 2 at Start Garden. Find out more about what you can expect when you attend.

The event begins with the Lantern Workshop. The workshop is free to attend, but guests will need to buy tickets in advance on the EventBrite website. During the event, 50 lantern kits will be given out. Additional lantern kits will be available for purchase. Food will also be sold, and a Filipino Advocacy Award will be awarded to WZZM media personality Jennifer Pascua. This part of the event runs from 11:30 AM to 3 PM.

After the workshop, the parade will begin. Friends and neighbors will meet to sing songs, march and display their lanterns. Participation in the parade is free and open to the public. It will take place from 3:00-3:30 and is sure to inspire a feeling of peace within the community.
