The Garage Bar and Grill is a staple in the Grand Rapids area, providing great beer, great food and a fun, casual atmosphere. Those that frequent the restaurant will be pleased to find out that it has gotten so popular that it will soon be opening a second location. It will be taking the place of Drake’s Pub at 3766 Division Ave. in Godwin Heights. Read on to find out more about this exciting news.

Garage owner Kevin Farhat is very pleased at the new developments that are taking place. “We are excited to bring the popular Garage Bar & Grill concept to Godwin Heights,” says Farhat. “As we mentioned last year when we acquired the property, we want to blend our brand into the characteristic of this neighborhood, and we feel the Garage Bar concept, and its exceptional menu, will accomplish that goal, especially with the automotive manufacturing history of this area.”

Drake’s is scheduled to close down for remodeling starting on March 6. The two-week project will entail redecorating the interior so that it resembles the design of the current location, as well as a complete reconstruction of the kitchen. Aside from that, locals should expect not much to change except the menu items and kitchen operations.

The Garage Bar and Grill has gained popularity over the years by offering fresh items at a fair price. Although one might associate the word ‘bar’ with an eatery that serves frozen food, The Garage has fresh ingredients coming in from local suppliers on a daily basis.

They also pride themselves in serving cold beer with no pretense and drinks with booze you can taste. The atmosphere is fun and easy going and they have a philanthropic spirit of honoring veterans which they plan to carry over to their new location.

Third Coast Development, the real estate firm that was instrumental in the acquisition of the new property, is also excited about the move. Partner Brad Rosley is confident that the new location will be a success, much like its predecessor.  “Kevin always says that he knows how to ‘run a good party’, so we’re excited to bring that Garage Bar energy to this location, says Rosley. “But, he also knows how to run a great establishment, so we’re eager to enhance the bar and grill offerings to the Godwin Heights area.”

With a ringing endorsement like that, it sounds like the residents of Godwin Heights really have something to look forward to. Be sure to keep tabs on the Garage Bar and Grill website and social media for the official opening date of the new location. We look forward to seeing you there!
