Grand New: The Intersection Opens Two New Venues

For over 40 years, The Intersection has been synonymous with concerts and entertainment in the Grand Rapids area. The club is constantly expanding and making improvements to make its live experience more enjoyable, and now it is announcing further expansions, adding two new onsite venues to its location.

The Intersection features a 1500 seat live music concert venue as well as a more intimate 400 seat venue called The Stache. New plans call for the addition of The Elevation, which will be located in The Intersection’s basement and have a seating capacity of 800. A VIP section called The Mint will also be added. The Mint will be ideal for after parties and meet and greets.

The Intersection started out as a local watering hole in the downtown Grand Rapids area. True to its roots, it is still a great place to grab a drink or see an intimate performance. But with ongoing expansions, patrons can also enjoy a full-blown night of entertainment, as the venue hosts top names in rock and hip-hop. That’s only part of why the venue is ranked as one of the top 50 clubs in the world.

Elevation is scheduled to open on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, a legendary night for clubbing, with performances by the North Carolina band Papadosio and local artist Desmond Jones. Artists that will be playing the venue on future dates are yet to be announced.

The owners are clearly excited by the direction The Intersection is taking. Co-owner Scott Hammontree had this to say, “It’s a big year for The Intersection because we’re growing. We’re taking a big swing (with) four venues under one roof and what that takes to run and operate and manage and produce.”

The new developments at The Intersection will be an exciting addition to the downtown Grand Rapids area, bringing more concerts and more entertainment to the community. Be sure to mark your calendar for the March 17 show. With great talent, and the unveiling of a terrific venue, it promises to be a night to remember!
