Grand New: Restaurant Concept in Standale Specializing in Tacos

Fans of the Grand Rapids casual dining restaurant, the Crooked Goose, may be dismayed to find out it has closed after almost six years of service. However, they needn’t mourn for long as plans are underway to open a new restaurant in its place that will offer residents a unique dining option. Find out what the Meritage Hospitality Group have in store with their new Cali-Mex taqueria venture, Stan Diego.

Brad Teachout, director of casual dining options for the Meritage Group has this to say; “We took a look at the growing trade area and decided we wanted to do something completely different than everyone else.”

Plans for the new restaurant reveal a doubling of the size and a layout that will feature two industrial garage doors, an open kitchen and a 1960’s vintage Volkswagon van which will lend a nostalgic atmosphere to the décor. Guests can also look forward to being able to enjoy community games like shuffleboard and foosball as part of their dining experience.
But the real star of the venture will be the food. Bringing a different palette to the community, the menu will feature a la carte taco dishes, house-made guacamole, signature salsa, and churros. All food will be made using ‘responsibly sourced ingredients”. There will also be a bar that serves tequila cocktails and canned beer on ice.


Plans to open the restaurant are set for the spring of 2018. It is then that residents will be able to try the new taste sensation that is coming to their city. It will be interesting the see how the people of Grand Rapids react to this exciting, new addition to their neighborhood.
