View more than 50 elaborate and dazzling gowns worn by The Supremes during the apex of their popularity when The Grand Rapids Public Museum unveils its newest exhibit November 4.

As part of the traveling exhibition from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, The Supremes Reflections: The Mary Wilson Supreme Legacy Collection will look at the history of one of America's best known Motown groups in the context of 1960's Detroit and the Civil Rights movement.

Meijer Gardens to Install Colossal Calder E-mail
"Calder City" will continue to live up to its moniker October 19 when Frederik Meijer Gardens installs a colossal sculpture by the artist in the Cultural Commons area of its grounds.

Two Disks, a 25-foot high black painted steel and bolt work created in 1965 by Calder, will be on long term loan from the Smithsonian Institution’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington DC. The piece has been on display in front of the museum since 1974 and has never been previously loaned.

Oktoberfest Returns to Grand Rapids E-mail
The celebration of German food and heritage returns to Grand Rapids October 12 and 13 when Oktoberfest opens at John Ball Park. Kicking off at noon on Friday, the festival will have authentic German food from Erika's Delicatessen, nine varieties of German beer, oom-pah and polka bands, kids activities and keg-tossing contests.

St. Cecilia's Classical Series Gets Going with The 5 Browns E-mail
A quintet of Juilliard-trained concert pianists will help kick off St. Cecilia Music Center's '07-'08 season. The twist? All five jazz-inspired musicians are brothers and sisters. Grand Rapids will be the first city to host The 5 Browns since the debut of their recently released third album, which showcases musical styles drawn from a wide variety of sources. Appealing to a youthful audience, the group often performs in front of people who haven't been exposed to classical music.

Grand Rapids Art Museum Sneak Peek E-mail
After nearly three years of construction, the Grand Rapids Art Museum is set to open at the GRAM Members' ribbon cutting ceremony October 4. The museum, cafe and gift shop will open to the public on October 5th, and Friday Nights at GRAM will also return that evening beginning at 5 p.m.
