Griffins vs. Marlies - The first place Griffins host back-to-back games against the Toronto Marlies (named after the Duke of Marlborough, Winston Churchill's uncle) at Van Andel Arena. Gameday tickets start at $13.

General RV - Find that perfect RV and order direct from the factory at the Outlet Sale at DeVos Place. Admission is free and the show runs through Sunday.

Broken Sunday - Catch the local rockers at Ten Bells at 8 p.m. Tickets are $6 at the door.

World at Play Opens Tuesday E-mail
Beginning January 17, kids will be able to take a trip around the world without ever leaving Grand Rapids at the Children Museums's new exhibit, World at Play. Children of all ages will have the chance to experience something new through music, dance, food, art, language, games and more.

Kids will be able to travel to Italy and dine at a local pastry shop, purchase flowers or take a morning stroll in a park. They can also stop at the Vietnamese market area and prepare an afternoon meal in a Vietnamese kitchen or visit the Ghana section to play instruments, dance and hear stories around the campfire.

World at Play runs through May 14 and the museum is open weekly, Tuesday through Sunday. Admission is $4.
 
Downtown Theatres Offer Choice of Comedies E-mail
Two downtown theatre companies perform comedies this week, one new and off-center, and one a familiar classic. Beginning January 19, Actors' at Spectrum will perform Kimberly Akimbo, a comedy that follows the life of 16 year old Kimberly, her drunken father, hypochondriac mother and scam-artist aunt, all set in the wilds of suburban New Jersey. The play runs through January 28 and tickets are $11-$22.

The Grand Rapids Civic Theatre continues its production this week of the Neil Simon play, The Odd Couple. Laughs abound when two seemingly opposite roommates attempt to keep their friendship --and sanity--in tact. The Odd Couple also runs through January 28 and admission prices range from $10-$22.
 
Griffins Return to Rosa Parks for Great Skate Fundraiser E-mail
Beginning 11 p.m. on Saturday January 14, Grand Rapids Griffins fans will have the chance to skate with their favorite players and raise money for charity. During the 24-hour skating marathon, every player and coach will skate at the Rosa Parks Circle rink downtown for at least one hour, around the clock, to raise money for the Griffins Youth Foundation. There is no fee to participate, but fans are asked to make a donation to the Foundation.

Fire pits and a warming tent with coffee and hot chocolate will be set up to help keep fans warm. Autographed player photos will be available for just $5, and signed jerseys and photos will be raffled off with all proceeds benefiting the charity.

DeVos Place Hosts Two Events This Weekend E-mail
The dowtown convention center will host two separate expo show events this weekend. The 36th Annual Grand Rapids Bridal Show, running January 13 & 14, will make planning a wedding easier with more than 80 vendors scheduled to attend, offering everything from engagement rings to wedding fashions and food. Tickets are free.

Also beginning Friday, the 37th Annual Autorama will feature hot rods, showcars, auto memorabilia and collectibles, lowrider bicycles and guest appearances from NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace and WWE star Chris Benoit.The Autorama runs through January 15.

2006 RV Dealer Show Opens Jan 5 E-mail
The RV & Camping Expo takes place at The DeltaPlex beginning Thursday, Jan 5. See over 100 new luxury motorhomes, RVs and pop-up trailers and find campground and vacation information. The show runs through Sunday. Admission is free and parking is $5.
