Ring in 2009 at dozens of bars, restaurants, hotels and family venues around Grand Rapids and West Michigan. This year's popular events include New Year's Eve on the Grand and parties at the Amway Grand, The B.O.B., Monte's and DeVos Place. All events take place Wednesday, December 31, 2008

Bars, Nightlife & Parties

The 1913 Room - Enjoy a five-course dinner from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. at Michigan's only Five Diamond restaurant. $250 per couple; includes complimentary valet parking.

36th St Lounge - Live entertainment with two DJs; tickets are sold out.

Apartment Lounge - Count down to the New Year at one of Michigan's oldest GLBT establishments. Open until 2 a.m.

Azucar Night Club - Music by GVSU's own DJ Cool Breeze, plus DJ Mr-Lac and DJ Einstein. Champagne toast at midnight. First 100 ladies in free; $10 cover. Ages 18+ welcome.

Bar Divani - The upscale bar and restaurant on Ionia will have a four course tasting menu and two seatings. The first is seating is 5:30p-6p and is $49/per person plus tax & gratuity. The second is 8:30p-9p, is $59/per person plus tax & gratuity and features a glass of sparkling wine at midnight.

Bar Louie - The party features a dinner buffet from 8-11 p.m., complimentary bar from 9 until midnight, live DJ and champagne toast. General cost is $65 per person and guests can have a guaranteed table for $75 per person. Reservations by phone: 616.885.9050.

Billy's Lounge - La Famiglia hosts the party live on stage. $10 cover.

Bistro Bella Vita - Seatings begin at 5 p.m. for off-the-menu ordering at the Italian restaurant and bar. The 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. seatings will have a special 4-course tasting menu paired with wine selections. As midnight approaches, there will be live jazz, party favors and a champagne toast.

The Black Rose - Live rock/pop music with Righteous begins around 9 p.m. and the Irish pub will have special menu items and a midnight champagne toast. $5 cover.

bloom - The $50 per person four-course menu features raw oysters, seared walleye, duck breast, beef tartare and more. First seating begins at 5:30 p.m.

The B.O.B. - Ticket prices start at $35 for entrance to the party and a prime rib dinner; a progressive dinner will be available for $39. The B.O.B. will have live music on the 2nd Floor with Cover Story and DJs and dancing.

The B.O.B.'s 3rd Floor - The B93 Country Night NYE party at The B.O.B. includes prime rib buffet and live entertainment with country band Do South. $35 per person.

The Break Room - Live music with AB and Coconut Brown begins at 9 p.m. Tickets: $5.

Bull's Head Tavern - Ring in 2009 with a DJ, Party Favors, & Champagne Toast for $30. $20 of the $30 will be credited to the food bill for the evening and the general cover for just drinks will be $10 throughout the evening.

Cascade Hills Country Club - Enjoy a crab & beef tenderloin buffet from 6-9 p.m. and live music with the Fred Knapp Trio. $48 for adults; must be a Cascade Hills member or invited by a member.

Celebration Cinema - The third annual NYE party in the Wave Room will have hors d'oeuvres, a buffet dinner, dancing, live music, complimentary champagne toast and a cash bar. Festivities begin at 7:30 p.m.

Churchill's - A recession-proof NYE solution in a relaxed casual atmosphere featuring no cover charge, menu specials and the sounds of DJ's Shannon Williams, Jenny D and Christian Frank.

Crush - $20 cover gets you in the door at The B.O.B. after 7 p.m. and access to Crush. Admission does not include food.

Cygnus - The restaurant atop the Amway Grand will have dinner with one bottle of champagne, complimentary valet parking, dinner and dancing from 8 p.m. - 1 a.m., party favors and DJ entertainment. $275 per couple.

DeVos Performance Hall - The Rotary Club of Grand Rapids presents the annual New Year's Eve Gala with the Grand Rapids Symphony performing with the "Broadway Tenors". Concert tickets are $18 and access to the charity reception at 5:30 p.m. is $45.

DeVos Place - Headlining comedians and guests from the nationally-syndicated 'The Bob & Tom Show' will take the Steelcase Ballroom stage at DeVos Place beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 and the performance will have mature content.

The Dragon Room - The ultra lounge and sushi bar located next to The Tap House will have Asian fusion cuisine, midnight champagne toast and a soundscape of downtempo, Lo-Fi, and deep house music. Tickets are $25/person or $100/table and includes a first cocktail.

Dr. Grins - Guest comedian Rob Little will perform at the comedy club in The B.O.B. $60 includes dinner, show tickets and cover charge.

Eastern Ave Hall - Local band Mr. Whooha leads the 80's bash starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 each or 2 for $20 and include champagne toast, party favors, contests, cash prizes, guest appearances and more.

Eve - The nightclub on the top floor of The B.O.B. will have DJ and dancing starting at 7 p.m. $20 cover includes general admission to The B.O.B. but doesn't include food.

Fenian's - Celebrate an Irish New Year's Eve in Conklin with some of the finest Irish musicians from around the state playing guitar, whistles, fiddles, the squeezebox and more. No cover, no reservations needed and food will be served. Must be 21+ after 6:30 p.m.

Flanagan's - The Irish pub on Pearl Street will have a special dinner menu, sparkling wine toast at midnight, party favors and music with 5ML.

Founders Brewing - Michigan band Ultraviolet Hippopotamus leads the party at Founders.

Grand Woods Lounge - Live music with DJ John Beltran.

Graydon's Crossing (Plainfield) - Full dinner and complimentary glass of champagne.

The Grill House - Recently featured on the Travel Channel, the restaurant and bar in Allegan will have an appetizer and dessert buffet, midnight toast, hats, horns, and dancing. Live music will be performed by the 2nd Shift Band. Tickets are $25; party starts at 8 p.m.

GP Sports - $78 per couple includes dinner buffet from 7-9 p.m., a cash bar, complimentary parking, champagne toast, party favors and a live DJ starting at 9 p.m.

Hideout Brewing Company - It's 80's Prom Night at Hideout Brewing. Wear your best 80's attire to be voted King or Queen of the Prom. $5 cover.

Hopcat - Grand Rapids blues band Nomad Willy will host the party at the brewpub located at 25 Ionia SW. Festivities begin at 9:30 p.m.

The Intersection - Grand Rapids rockers Pop Evil will headline the NYE show at The Intersection with special guest Nomara. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Ages 21+ welcome.

Joe Martini's - Grand Rapids' Fatt Lapp Blues Band presents Mud Morganfield, son of legend Muddy Waters, for an evening of Chicago electric blues. Tickets ($50 per couple/$30 individual) also include a drink ticket, hors d'oeuvres, champagne toast and party favors.

Jolly's - Live music at the Wayland bar with Grand Rapids alternative band Sophomore Slump begins at 11:30 p.m.

Jukes - It's a Rockabilly New Year's Eve with live music guests Dangerville, Brother Bill and Truckstop Cobras. Free champagne toast at midnight; no cover charge. 21+.

Louie's Bar - The bar on Bridge St will have a live DJ, champagne toast at midnight, $50 champagne bottles and $100 table reservations that will include one bottle of Stoli or Kettle One.

Louis Benton - Live music in the lounge with local band Decades.

Magoo's - The $10 cover charge includes champagne toast, snack bar, party favors and DJs "Kid" Joe & JB Show 9 p.m. - 2 a.m.

Mark Stewart's Guest House - Local '50s and '60s rock cover band The Eschelons hosts the party on Stocking Ave NW with dinner and dancing beginning at 7:30 p.m.

McFadden's - The 'New York, New York - A Night in the Big Apple' themed party will have complimentary heavy hors d'oeuvres, midnight buffet, party favors and $2 Miller Lite bottles all night. Advanced tickets are $25.

McFadden's Pearl Room - Join DJ Jason Veeder in McFadden's Pearl Room for an exclusive, comfortable New Year's Eve Party. Tickets ($50/person, $85/couple) include VIP entrance, complimentary sampling of Ciroc Vodka, passed appetizers and $1 u-call-its all night.

The Melting Pot - The special four-course meal at The Melting Pot will have a cheese course, salad course, entree course with filet mignon, chicken, shrimp and ravioli and a dessert course with chocolate fondue or tiramisu. Reservations recommended.

Mojo's - Doors open for dinner at 6 p.m. with seating choices on both the main floor and upstairs. Prices range from $25-$40 for dinner, and the dueling piano entertainment begins at 8 p.m. $10 cover after 9 p.m. Reservations required for dinner.

Monte's - Required entry ticket gets you $1 you-call-its all night, an hors d'oeuvre buffet, midnight champagne toast and party favors plus live DJs spinning until 4 a.m.

Moxie - At Moxie, it's 'The greatest celebration of the year inspired by the greatest love story of all time, Romeo & Juliet. Tickets start at $15 with special packages available for $25 and $50 and include food, a hosted bar, champagne toast and gift bag.

Naya - The bistro and wine bar on East Paris will host to prix fixe 4 course menus with selections like Oysters Rockefeller, sea scallops, veal chop and more. The first seating begins at 5:30 p.m. and is $49 per person; the second seating at 9:00 p.m. is $59 and includes bubble champagne toast at midnight.

The Orbit Room - Maryland hard rock band Clutch headlines the night of music at The Orbit Room. Special guests Russian Circles and Viking Skull will open. Tickets are $34; ages 17+ welcome.

Ottawa Tavern - No cover charge and drink specials include $1.75 Drafts, $3.00 shots, $3.00 wells and $3.95 margaritas & sangrias.

Quinn and Tuite's - Catch live Irish music with The Waxies and Craic Wisely at the pub on Plainfield Ave beginning at 7 p.m. $5 cover.

Republic - Rock with Buddha at the late night Zen party. $25 per person gets you reserved seating from 11pm to 2am, an 8 peice sushi offering, exotic swag from LAMB and the midnight champagne toast. Early and late dinner seatings are also available.

Ritz Koney - Live music with Jason Eller begins at 9:30 p.m. Drink specials and no cover charge.

River City Saloon - Live music with acoustic folk-rock band Grasshoppah. Table reservations are $5 per person; no cover for standing room only.

River City Slims - Blues singer Larry McCray returns for the 2nd annual party that will have a midnight champagne toast and buffet featuring signature New Orleans-inspired dishes. Tickets: $30 in advance, $35 at the door.

Rockwell's - Early and late dinner reservations available for Chef Pete's full menu. $5 gets you in the door after 10pm to ring in the new year with your friends and a midnight champagne toast.

Rocky's Bar & Grill - Live music with John Lee Homicide and midnight champagne toast. $6 cover.

Rumors - The GLBT bar on South Division will have dancer review shows at 11pm and at 1am, buffet and midnight champagne toast. Cover is $10 for adults and $15 for minors.

Sazerac Lounge - Live music with Rockin' Eight; doors open at 8 p.m. $5 cover.

The Score - The Black and White themed party will have dinner and drink specials, raffle and prize giveaways, DJ, dancing and midnight champagne toast.

Sixx - The new nightclub at the American Seating Complex presents its NYE Ice Ball '09 party with a complimentary champagne toast, passed hors d'oeuvres, live DJs and drink specials all night. Tickets: $50.

Skelletones - Vigilantes headline a night of live music that also features Iowa band The Dig Angies. Starts at 6 p.m. with free pizza at midnight.

The Tap House - DJ ELEMNT and DJ Docta B will spin upstairs at the Ionia Ave bar and Lukas D will perform on the main floor. $25 per person or $80 for a four top table.

Tavern on Kraft - Live music with local band Signal Trip.

Teazers - The 8th Annual Party features karaoke, party favors, midnight champagne toast, free snacks and more beginning at 8 p.m.

Tequila Willy's - $8 cover ($15 per couple) gets you into the party that will have a DJ spinning 80's, 90's and Top 40, party favors and a champagne toast. Prime rib dinner is $14.95 and reserved tables begin filling up around 8 p.m.

Throwback's - Entry to the new Alternative bar in the former Remedy/Brick House location is $5.00 for VIPs, $10.00 for 21 and up, and $15.00 for minors. An appetizer buffet, complimentary champagne fountain at midnight, part hats, streamers, noise makers, and balloons are all included in the entry fee.

Twisted Bull - The country bar at 32nd and Eastern Ave SE will have live music, party favors and a champagne toast. $10 cover.

Victory Club - The new sports dining destination in Ada will have special menu offerings, live DJ, party favors, midnight champagne toast and midnight celebrations from around the world on 20 TVs. Starts at 5:30 p.m.

Watermark Country Club - $100/person or $185/couple includes 4 course surf 'n turf dinner, champagne toast at midnight, party favors, valet parking and live music with Trilogy.

West Catholic Ballroom - Join Mid-Life Crisis band at West Catholic for their second annual NYE party. Doors open at 7 p.m; tickets available at mlcband.com

The Westwood - A fun-filled evening at the bar on West River Drive with a dinner buffet, dancing, live music, champagne toast and midnight buffet. $35 per person includes cover charge.

NYE 2009 VIP Club Hop - Can't decide at which club to spend New Year's Eve? Hop on the VIP party limo bus and visit Eve, Crush, Churchill's, Moxie, The Dragon Room and Monte's for just $50. A limo bus will travel between Moxie, The Dragon Room and The B.O.B every half hour between 9 pm and 1:00 AM. Monte's will be added to the route at 1:00 AM til 4:30 AM. Avoid waiting for taxis, walking in the snow and parking. Party on your own schedule.

Whiskey Lounge - Live DJs throughout the evening; open 5 p.m - 4 a.m.


Family Events

New Year's Eve on the Grand - The inaugural party at Rosa Parks Circle will feature a free outdoor concert and a giant illuminated ball that will be lowered over Rosa Parks Circle just before midnight. Entertainment includes country star Darryl Worley and the Plain White T's. Citadel Broadcasting (WLAV, HotFM, Thunder Country) estimate 4,000-5,000 people will come down for the event, which will also be televised by WZZM13. Free admission; runs 5:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.

Human New Years Ball - Bring anything that emits light (cell phone, glowstick, flashlight, etc. and join up to 2,000 other people at Rosa Parks Circle to create a giant human New Year's ball. The Todd Chance Radio Show hosts the event from 9:45 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.during NYE on the Grand. Free.

Craig's Cruisers - Enjoy Craig's Cruisers special New Years Eve feast at the Wyoming location plus unlimited Indoor GoKarts, Laser Tag, Bumper Cars, High Ropes Course and more. Tickets are $24.99 per person or $125 for groups of six; party favors included.

Grand Rapids Art Museum - Ring in the New Year with elegance, culture and fun at GRAM Dec. 31. The evening includes: cash bar and snacks, party favors for purchase, games, prizes, kids films, video dance music and the countdown to 2009; $5 general admission. The optional dinner package includes a three-course meal, party favors, access to the Museum and Cafe to watch the ball drop and midnight champagne toast. $30 for adults, $10 for kids (early seating only).

Grand Rapids Children's Museum - The 11th annual family event beginning at 6 p.m. will have face painting, party hat and noisemaker decorating and a countdown to the 7:30 p.m. balloon drop. Drinks and light snacks will be provided. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance as this event sells out quickly. Kids under 2 are free.

Grand Rapids Griffins - The Griffins host their 12th annual Ring in the New Year event at Van Andel Arena against the Iowa Chops. If the Griffins win, all fans will receive a free ticket to the January 7 Griffins game. After the contest against the chops families can bring their skates and take the ice for open skate. $5-$25.


Special Packages & Getaways

Amway Grand Plaza - Overnight packages start at $154 and offer access to parties at GP Sports and the Ambassador Ballroom after 10 p.m. The $310 package includes overnight stay, drink vouchers, reception, elite dinner stations, champagne toast, DJ entertainment and party favors.

Bay Pointe Inn - The evening includes dinner, music and dancing and rooms available from $100. Reservations required.

Best Western - The family fun New Year's Eve begins at 3 p.m. with movies and popcorn, followed by a pizza party, late night snacks, non-alcoholic sparkling wine midnight toast and New Year's Day breakfast buffet. $99-$139.

Comfort Suites North - The $119 package at the Comstock Park hotel includes party favors, midnight champagne toast (non-alcohol), ball drop and a banquet room for games and movies.

Courtyard Marriott - Downtown - Starting at $134 per couple, the overnight packages include access to the Pure Country party, complimentary parking and access to parties at The Amway Grand and the J.W. Marriott. The $209 package adds a prime rib dinner, party favors and a champagne toast.

The Crowne Plaza - The party includes overnight accommodations for two, hors d'oeuvres, buffet dinner, late night snack, champagne toast at midnight and your party favors. Price per couple is $191.40 inclusive.

Holiday Inn Express SW - The family event package at the Grandville hotel includes gift party favors, non-alcoholic champagne toast, visit by DJ the Clown and breakfast bar. $129-$179.

Howard Johnson Plaza - The Midnight Masquerade-themed party features a $139 per couple price and includes overnight stay, live DJ, 2 complimentary drink tickets, party favors, hors d'oeuvres, buffet dinner and midnight champagne toast.

J.W. Marriott - Celebrate the new year in style with the 'Totally Rad 80's' party at the downtown hotel. Ballroom packages with a guest room start at $399 and include drink vouchers, valet parking, reception, food stations, champagne toast, party favors and the 80's Night DJs.

Radisson - NYE package includes guest room, dinner buffet for two, cash bar, live music by Bridge Street, dancing, champagne toast and snacks. $199/couple; dinner & party for two, $99/couple.

Springhill Suites - Special $74 NYE rate includes overnight stay in a king or two queen suite, drink specials at the 52fifty Lobby Lounge, continental breakfast with extended hours and access to the pool and whirlpool.


Beyond Grand Rapids

Holland

Boatwerks - The evening kicks off with a large dinner buffet from 5:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., with the New Year's Eve party following. The Zion Lion Reggae Band will perform and there will be island-themed refreshments, party favors, midnight toast, and more! $30 cover or $10 cover with receipt from dinner.

Butch's - New Years Eve's at Butch's will feature live jazz with the Brandon Wallace Jazz Trio beginning at 7 p.m. Seatings start at 5 p.m. and the menu includes a grilled Kobe beef filet and broiled tiger prawns.

CityVu Bistro - CityVu Bistro atop CityFlats Hotel in downtown Holland will have a four course dinner with prime rib and lobster, as well as an optional wine pairing beginning at 7 p.m. A live jazz band and champagne toast will follow dinner. $55 per person for dinner; $75 per person with the wine pairing.

The Curragh - Open regular hours with Wednesday night drink specials. No cover charge.

Holiday Inn Express - Family NYE with party favors, family karaoke, Tag the Clown, non-alcoholic champagne toast and more. $129+.

New Holland Brewing - Live music with Why Not Astronaut begins at 9 p.m.

Park Theatre - The Holland Young Professionals host the Studio 54 “Ring it in Retro” bash to benefit the Park Theatre. Evening includes a DJ spinning retro music, live performance by the Aeriel Angels, food from Butch's, champagne toast at midnight and more. General tickets are $40; VIP tickets are $80.

Piper - Special three-course New Year's Eve menu.

S Nightclub - Party features complimentary hors d'oeuvres at 10 p.m, champagne toast at midnight and New Year's buffet at 12:30 a.m. Tickets: $25/person, $40/couple in advance; $30/person, $50/couple at the door. 21+ only, dress code strictly enforced.

Till Midnight - The complete package ($100/couple) includes a four-course meal in the recently completed dining room, dancing, complimentary drink tickets, champagne toast, light appetizers, desserts in the ballroom and live music with Oregon Dreamchild. Package price per couple without the dinner is $80.


Grand Haven

Old Boys' Brewhouse - Live music and party with Robert Pace.

Holiday Inn - The package at the Spring Lake hotel includes overnight accommodations, live music by Off the Record, champagne toast, party favors and New Year's Day breakfast buffet.

Muskegon

The Landmark - Live music with Orange October starts at 9 p.m.

MI Bar - Live music with Muskegon rock/metal band Toxxic beginning at 10 p.m.

Rafferty's - The dockside restaurant will have a buffet, live music, dancing and champagne toast at midnight. Early and late seatings available.


Saugatuck/Douglas

Belvedere Inn & Restaurant - Two night stay packages include Tuesday night hors d'oeuvres, a bottle of sparkling wine and seats at the New Year's Eve Celebration Dinner. Packages start at about $270.

Coral Gables - NYE party featuring prime rib dinner for two, tickets to The Crow Bar and dancing for $35. Tickets to the dance club without dinner are $5.

Downtown Saugatuck - View fireworks at midnight over the harbor in Saugatuck.

The Dunes Resort - The NYE celebration at Michigan's largest gay and lesbian resort will dance music with DJ Mark Vallese, cabaret entertainment and more.

Everyday People Cafe - Grilled duck breast, beef capaccio, snapper and strip steak highlight the $50 per person wine dinner menu. Reservations required.

Saugatuck Brewing Company - It's a Honky Tonkin' Swing Dancin' Beer Swillin' good time with Delilah DeWylde and the Lost Boys. Free snack buffet, midnight champagne toast, dancing and more, 9 p.m. - 1 a.m.

White House Bistro - Live music with Rock Shop and special guest Deb Barton, appetizer buffet, choice of entree, dessert bar, party favors and a view of the fireworks at midnight. $69.99 per couple.


Kalamazoo

Bittersweet Ski Area - The celebration begins at 9 p.m. with skiing open until 11:30 p.m. and party favors, champagne and a DJ in the lounge. $15 cover for the party; $15-$22 for ski and snowboard rental.

Cityscape Events Center - Enjoy light hors d'oeuvres, party favors, champagne toast and live Motown music. $35 per person.

The Corner Bar & Grille - Check out A Punks New Year with The Extinctions, Dumpster Dive Alley, Grog, Love Muffin and more. $5 cover; ages 18+.

Kalamazoo Institute of the Arts - Don Neal & His Little Big Band will perform live at the event which also will have a buffet and cash bar. Price: $79 per person; proceed benefit the KIA.

Kalamazoo New Year's Fest - Held in and around Bronson Park in downtown Kalamazoo, the family friendly event features 28 entertainers performing in nine buildings. Admission buttons are $5; begins at 5:30 p.m.

Kalamazoo State Theatre - Greensky Bluegrass returns to State Theatre for the third straight New Year's celebration. Special folk/blues guests Steppin' In It, Seth Bernard & Daisy May will join the band onstage. Tickets are $16 in advance, $20 at the door.

Millenium Restaurants - Epic Bistro, Martell's in Coldwater, Nexus and Skeletones will all have special menus and Nexus and Skeletones will have live jazz and Motown R&B.

Monaco Bay - Dinner show packages range from $49-$79 and include appetizers, dinner, dessert, entertainment, midnight champagne toast and party favors. Late show tickets are available for $20 after 8:45 p.m.

Old Burdick's - South - High School Musical-themed family party that ties in with special overnight packages at The Holiday Inn on South 11th.

Olde Peninsula - Champagne toast at midnight.

Papa Pete's - Four Finger Five and The Macpods headline the New Years Eve Spectacular. Tickets are $8 in advance.

Radisson - Sample foods from around the world and enjoy live Latin music during the Jet Set New Years Eve at the Radisson in downtown Kalamazoo. The $79 single ticket includes two drink tickets, champagne toast and the international culinary experience. Overnight packages are $299.

Shakespeare's Pub - No cover New Year's Eve! Featuring Jeff Mueller live, extreme karaoke, $2.75 well drinks, champagne and food specials.

Timber Ridge Ski Area - The annual New Year's Eve party will have open slopes until 11:30 p.m. followed by the Torch Parade and fireworks. Tickets to the adult party (21+) in the Snowshoe Bar are $15. Lift tickets and access to the outdoor activities is $26 for adults, $19 for juniors.

Wild Bull - Dinner show packages are $39 per person and include reserved seating all night, hors d'oeuvres banquet, live jazz, DJ, party favors and champagne toast at midnight. Evening tickets without dinner are $15 before midnight.

Wings Stadium - After the the K-Wings take on the Muskegon Fury, the 'Oldies Dance in the Cube' Bash takes over from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m. Open skating will be available 10:45 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.
