Celebrate America's independence with fireworks, parades and special events in Grand Rapids and around West Michigan. All activities take place Monday, July 4, unless noted.

Grand Rapids:

4th of July Family Fireworks - GR's 4th celebration presented by Amway, the Michigan Lottery, AT&T and Spartan Stores is bigger than ever this year with live music at both the Ah-Nab-Awen Park and Rosa Parks Circle stages, a parade to kick the evening off at 5 p.m. and the fireworks at dusk. 105.3 HotFM will host headlining band We the Kings at Rosa Parks Circle at approximately 11 p.m., following the fireworks display. All events are free.

Front Row for the Fireworks - Enjoy exhibits, carousel rides, planetarium shows, deals in the Cafe and organ concerts at the Grand Rapids Public Museum while waiting for the fireworks show over the Grand River. As darkness falls, stay inside the air-conditioned Museum or head to the enclosed lawn seating area. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7.50 for kids (non-member prices) with proceeds benefiting Museum programs.


Ada/Cascade - The bike parade starts at 10 a.m. on Cascade Rd and is immediately followed by the main parade at 10:30 a.m. Games and activities continue until 3:30 p.m.; fireworks are at dusk on Fulton across from Amway.

Allegan - The annual jubilee in downtown Allegan kicks off at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, with live music, entertainment, a craft show, games and more. The fireworks follow at dusk over the riverfront.

Allendale - The weekend-long Independence Day celebration is capped off on Monday with a pancake breakfast, the parade at 10 a.m., fun in the park, live music and fireworks at 10 p.m.

Caledonia - Celebrate Independence Day early on June 25 with a 5K run/walk, a parade, a karaoke contest, live music, games and the fireworks at dusk.

East Grand Rapids - EGR's 4th of July Celebration gets underway with the parade at noon, followed by the annual water ski show, games and activities and live music. The fireworks over Reeds Lake launch at dusk.

Fremont - Fireworks will burst over Fremont Lake at dusk on Sunday, July 3.

Grandville - Enjoy a weekend of events culminating on Monday with the annual parade, skydiving exhibition, live music and fireworks at dusk at the Middle School.

Grand Haven - The annual fireworks show at Waterfront Stadium begins at dusk, immediately following the Musical Fountain performance.

Gun Lake - The fireworks over Gun Lake are set for Saturday, July 2 at approximately 10:20 p.m.

Holland - The Celebration Freedom Festival at Kollen Park starts at noon on Monday with live bands, dance and choral groups, a sidewalk chalk extravaganza, a diamond mine contest and more until the fireworks show begins at dusk.

Kentwood - Kentwood's annual parade begins at 9:30 a.m. on July 2 at the corner of Eastern & 52nd and proceeds to Kalamazoo & 60th. The fireworks show at dusk will be held at the City Center (4900 Breton Rd SE).

Muskegon - The Blue Chip Casino Fourth of July Fireworks at Summer Celebration explode over Heritage Landing beginning at 10:20 p.m.

Saugatuck - The annual parade begins at 2 p.m. and the music at Cook Park kicks off at 7 p.m.; fireworks are at dusk.
