It's a relaxing Labor Day Weekend with Labor Fest, the Grand Crossings Bridge Walk, Shoreline Spectacular and Soul of the City, plus GRAM hosts the first major ArtPrize event.

Friday (09/02)

Shoreline Spectacular - The Labor Day weekend festival has been relocated to Ross Park in Norton Shores and will feature four days of family events including an arts & crafts show, human foos ball, a car and motorcycle show, picnics, live music, a parade and a hot dog eating contest. Free general admission.

Soul of the City - On Friday and Saturday enjoy live R&B, jazz, neo soul, spoken word, gospel and hip hop on the Rosa Parks Circle stage along with family activities, soul food and a health & wellness fair. Free admission.

Ben Franklin - The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum opens its newest special exhibit this Friday called 'Ben Franklin: In Search of a Better World'. The nationally-touring exhibition features dozens of hands-on activities and rare artifacts. Runs through January 8.

Canada's Cup - See the top sailors in the world compete for the prestigious Canada's Cup trophy on Lake Michigan, hosted by the Macatawa Bay Yacht Club in Holland. Seats on the spectator boat are still available.

Friday Night Conversations: ArtPrize - As part of the Grand Rapids Art Museum's casual Friday Night Conversations, learn more about ArtPrize while enjoying live piano music, open galleries and a cash bar. Breakwater Festival - Celebrate the last days of summer on the beach at Pere Marquette and Margaret Drake Elliott Parks in Muskegon, plus catch the Miss Muskegon Breakwater and Miss Muskegon Breakwater Outstanding Teen pageants.

Summer Sunset Party - DJames and 104.5 WSNX host the Labor Day weekend bash at 25 Kitchen + Bar with eight DJs both upstairs and down at Lower Level. Ages 18+ welcome; $5-$10 cover.

Labor Day (09/05)

Labor Fest - The Labor Day festival returns to Ah-Nab-Awen Park and the Gerald R. Ford Museum in downtown GR. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., enjoy live music in the park, food from local restaurants like Fred's Pizza, and antique car & motorcycle show, kids activities and more. Admission is free and no admission will be charged to check out the new Benjamin Franklin exhibit at the Ford Museum.

Grand Crossings Bridge Walk - You don't have to head all the way to the Mackinac Bridge to take part in a bridge walk. Mayor Heartwell will again lead participants across seven downtown-area bridges for the five mile walk that begins at 8 a.m. No sign-up necessary.

Whitecaps - The 'Caps wrap up their regular season with a three-game homestand against Ft. Wayne at Fifth Third Ballpark. Sunday is All Faiths Day and fans can get half off a box or reserved seat by bringing a church or community bulletin.

Labor Day Truck Parade - See the big rigs from West Michigan companies rumble through downtown Holland on the way to Civic Center. Free food and prizes will be part of the post-parade celebration.
