Happy Halloween! Trick-or-treating might not be until Monday, but the weekend features dozens of costume parties and haunted activities for young and old.

Friday (10/28)

Grand Rapids Zombie Walk - Now in its 4th year, the downtown GR zombie walk will begin at Calder Plaza at 8 p.m. and head south to The Dirty Hippie at 133 South Division.

End Of The World DUBSTEP Halloween Party - According to The Dirty Hippie, many credible prophecies depict October 28th, 2011 as the end of the world. Finish with a bang the DUBSTEP Halloween Party where only zombies will be allowed through the door. No humans!

Dracula - The Grand Rapids Ballet Company presents the intoxicating drama of an age-old tale that has gripped audiences for centuries at the Wege Theatre October 27-30. Costumes are encouraged.

Grand Rapids Griffins - It's a special Halloween edition of Dollar Beers, Dollar Dogs at Van Andel Arena as the Griffins take on the Abbotsford Heat. Fans are invited to wear their favorite costumes and can vote on their favorites. Game starts at 7 p.m.

Monsters Ball - The 8th annual party at The Intersection will have a costume contest, prizes, live DJ and more beginning at 9 p.m. Ages 18+ welcome.

Verdi's Il Trovatore - Opera Grand Rapids presents the suspenseful drama that tells of a witch burned at the stake, a doomed love triangle, gypsies, dungeons, counts and other mysterious characters. Performances dates: Oct 28 & 29 at DeVos Hall.

City of the Dead - Enjoy a ghostly funtastic night at Muskegon' Evergreen Cemetery and tour the grounds while local actors play prominent past Muskegon citizens. Tickets are $5; kids 6 and under are free. -

Saturday (10/29)

Trolley of Terror - It's the last chance to visit Monte's before it closes to become a new establishment in November. $15 per person includes entry to Monte's, a ride on the Trolley of Terror (runs between Rockwell/Republic & Monte's), costume contest, two drink tickets and a free sushi roll at Rockwell/Republic.

Free Radical Show & SiTE:LAB - The businesses, galleries and shops along the Avenue for the Arts area on South Division will have their doors open for extended hours, plus there will be live music and entertainment and SiTE:LAB in the JA Building will reopen. Free admission.

Halloween Extravaganza - Hosted by the Grand Rapids Jaycees at Centerpointe Mall, kids can enter a costume contest, play carnival games, have their faces painted and more from 9 a.m. to noon October 29.

Alger Heights Halloween 5K - On October 29 at 9 a.m., run through the rolling hills of the Alger Heights neighborhood in costume for this timed race. Alger Middle School will host post-race festivities and give away awards for best dressed.

The B.O.B.'s Annual Costume Party - The biggest night of Halloween partying at The B.O.B. will award $1000 for best costume, a $750 Gilmore Collection gift card for best cartoon costume and will have DJs Casey Cochran & Greg Knott providing the soundtrack. Admission is $9.97 after 8 p.m.; ages 21+ only.

The Just Wicked Halloween Party - The JW Marriott's Halloween bash will give away $1,400 in cash and prizes just for best costume, plus lesser prizes for second and third. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Sunday (10/30)

Fright Night - A Halloween Art Show - From 4-7 p.m. October 30, enjoy Halloween art presented by ten local artists, a costume contest, raffle and devilish desserts at Moxie Beauty and Hair Parlor near 44th & Kalamazoo. -

Moonlight Manor Haunt - The Halloween Yard Haunt in Walker is one of the area's best kept secrets featuring a self-guided tour through twists, turns and the haunted sanitarium. Admission is $3; open October 30 and 31 from dusk until 10 p.m.
