Created by Gilda's Club Grand Rapids, the nation's first-ever community-wide festival of laughter returns for ten days of stand-up comedy, improv, family events, film and seriously funny stuff March 8-18, 2012. Highlights: Community Kick-Off - @ Rosa Parks Circle, 5:45 p.m., free; all ages - Celebrate the opening of LaughFest 2012 with an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for most people wearing chicken beaks. Anyone who brings a rubber chicken will be entered into a drawing for free LaughFest gear. Whoopi Goldberg - @ GRCC Ford Fieldhouse, 8p, $32.50-$57.50; rated R - The award winning actor, television host and comedian headlines the first weekend of LaughFest with her visit to the Ford Fieldhouse stage. Giggle Ball - @ Amway Grand, 10p, $20; ages 21+ - Enjoy a strolling chocolate extravaganza of food, a cake walk, live band/dj, dancing, & chocolate martinis (cash bar). Proceeds benefit Gilda's Club. Amy Schumer - @ McFadden's, 10p & 11:59p, $15; ages 21+ - Known for NBC's Last Comic Standing, appearances on 30 Rock and Cupid and her half-hour special on Comedy Central, the rising stand-up star performs twice at McFadden's.
