A New Spin from GR Bicycle Company: Trailhead Cafe E-mail

Grand Rapids Bicycle Company is shaking up the city scene left and right. This past March the store reopened at a new location on East Paris under new owners. Tom Smith, along with his sons Tom Jr., Brian, and Steven have brought ingenuity, forward thinking, and a well-rounded inventory to the 5 year old company, but that’s not all. Adjacent to the bike shop and opening on Wednesday, May 30th, is Trailhead Cafe.

The interior of Trailhead Cafe (1200 East Paris SE) provides potential customers with an open, clean space to enjoy breakfast and lunch fare at reasonable prices. Enlarged photos of cyclists in scenic areas coupled with vintage bikes hanging on the walls create a feeling of fun and activity. The cafe is connected to the GR Bicycle Company by open doors. Customers can enjoy a smoothie or cup of coffee while perusing the many varieties of bikes, clothing, and accessories the shop has to offer.

Daniel Teliczan, culinary graduate of the Secchia Institute, describes the cuisine at Trailhead Cafe as “gourmet food at reasonable prices.” “We make our food with premium products such as Boarshead Meat and bread from the Nantucket Bakery. We want our patrons to experience high quality cuisine without the cost,” says Dan. The cafe plans to serve a variety of breakfast and lunch dishes including salads, sandwiches, paninis, and trailhead scrambles. The Cafe will be open Monday-Friday 7 am-3 pm and Saturday 8 am-3 pm. They had a soft opening last Friday in conjunction with West Michigan Stage Race providing cyclists with beverages and food samplings. “We got a lot of great feedback from the racers,” says Brian, “we are ready to open our doors to the public this Wednesday.” Come out and support the Grand Rapids Bicycle Company’s exciting addition and see what you think about the new “spin” on food.
