New Restaurant Spices Up Standale Eatery Scene

A new concept restaurant will soon be opening in Standale at 355 Wilson Ave. Crooked Goose is the creation of the same group that brought Twisted Rooster to East Beltline in Grand Rapids Ė Meritage Hospitality Group.
Aside from the equally eccentric names, similarities between the two restaurants include a commitment to sourcing Michigan made products, produce and meats. Executive Chef Mark Noseda II is currently in the process of tasting bounty from area farms in order to both develop the first seasonal menu and choose with which Michigan farmers Crooked Goose will be partnering.

Itís the seventh annual Michigan Brewers Guild Winter Beer Festival. Itís the "Sold-out since December, Canít Miss Winter Beer Party" that happens whatever the weather, and brought close to 6,000 people to Fifth Third Ballpark this past Saturday to sample over 450 of the best in Michigan craft brews, listen to live local tunes and eat turkey legs. Yes, turkey legs.
Food Trucks vs. Downtown Restaurants

There's currently a battle brewing between brick and mortar downtown restaurants and food trucks like What The Truck. Certain restaurants including Buffalo Wild Wings, Brann's, Sundance Grill, The Gilmore Collection (The B.O.B.), Cottage Bar and more are concerned that temporary concession sales would undermine their business. A hearing date at the City of Grand Rapids has been set for December 8.
