This weekend Grand Rapids pays tribute to our Veterans, the International Wine, Beer & Food Festival is back at DeVos Place, the popular GR .1K returns and the Public Museum opens "Great Lakes Shipwrecks".
International Wine, Beer & Food Festival - Now in its fifth year at DeVos Place, the festival will feature spirits, food, beers and more from around Michigan and the world. Local restaurants like Cygnus 27, San Chez Bistro, Bar Divani and FireRock Grille will offer sample plates created on location. General admission is $15; ages 21+ welcome.
Grand Rapids Griffins - The Griffins are back in town at Van Andel Arena to square off against the Rockford IceHogs. Dollar Beers and Dollar Dogs return for the Friday night game, and it's also College Night.
The Sounds of Simon & Garfunkel - Experience the best of Simon & Garfunkel like "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Sounds of Silence", "Mrs. Robinson" and many more authentically recreated on the DeVos Hall stage by the Grand Rapids Symphony and special guests AJ Swearingen and Jonathan Beedle.
Beneath the Tree - Private homes in Byron Center, East Grand Rapids and Grandville will be opened up to feature the artwork of more than 100 local artists. The holiday sale runs Friday and Saturday; tickets are $8 for the whole tour.

Veterans Day Parade - Grand Rapids' annual tribute to our veterans will step off at 10 a.m. on Division before heading to Veterans Memorial Park on East Fulton.
GR .1K - It's back! The popular .1K run down Ionia from Grand Rapids Brewing Company to McFadden's will get underway at noon, with race registration and pre-race festivities kicking off around 10:30 a.m. Proceeds raised will go to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, a parent-founded organization leading the fight to cure Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Great Lakes Shipwrecks - Learn how bad weather, bad decisions, bad design and bad luck can end in tragedy at the Grand Rapids Public Museum's newest exhibit "Great Lakes Shipwrecks, Storms and Stories", opening Saturday. Free with general admission.

Polka Pops Cafe opening - Grand Rapids will finally welcome an authentic Polish restaurant when That Polish Girl's Polka Pops Cafe opens on Stocking NW. Starting out, the eatery will be open for Sunday dinners from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the menu will feature homemade items like golabki, pierogies and kapusta, as well as rotating specials like pork chop suey, lamb cakes and czarnina, a traditional soup.
Metalocalypse - The Orbit Room hosts the night of pure Metal with special guest bands Dethklok with Machine Head, All That Remains and The Black Dahlia Murder. Tickets are $35 in advance, $39 at the door.
