The final weekend before the Christmas holiday features The Nutcracker, two Griffins games, an End of the World Party, the Holiday Road Show in Muskegon, Shrek and The Verve Pipe's Annual Holiday Show.
End of the World Party - The UICA pokes a little fun at the idea that the world will end December 21 with a party that celebrates the unveiling of the Utopia/Dystopia exhibition. Live music by Tokyo Morose and Haunted Leather, cash bar, and palm readings. Admission: $4-$8.
Grand Rapids Griffins - The Griffins host the Abbotsford Heat as part of a back-to-back homestand at Van Andel Arena. The Dollar Beer, Dollar Dogs promotion continues and it's also Military and College Night.
Ice Skating at Rosa Parks Circle - It looks like winter weather is finally on the way! The rink hours for the weekend are noon to 10 p.m. on Friday & Saturday and noon to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $1 and skate rental is free with ID.
LUMINAIRE - Daybreak Church in Hudsonville presents the original production that breaks from the traditional images and sights of Christmas in an effort to bring a fresh and new view on the birth of Christ. Two performances per day, Friday & Saturday. $10.

The Verve Pipe - The West Michigan-based band featuring Brian Vander Ark returns to the The Intersection with special guests AG Silver for the 8th annual holiday show. Tickets are $15.
Grand Rapids Griffins - Watch as the Griffins take on rival Chicago Wolves at Van Andel; the first 2,500 fans will receive a free outdoor game knit hat and Griffins players will sign autographs after the game.
The Nutcracker - For more than 3 decades, the Grand Rapids Ballet Company has brought the Christmas classic to life with dazzling choreography, sets and costumes, along with 100 dancers, including children and celebrities from the community. The Ballet returns to DeVos Performance Hall accompanied by the Grand Rapids Symphony December 14-16 & 21-23. Tickets: $20+.
Holiday Road Light Show - The Pointes Shopping Center on Sternberg Rd in Muskegon is transformed into a 360 degree Christmas Light Show synchonized to music. Admission to the indoor show is free.
All Saturday Events
Shrek the Musical - Shrek the Musical takes the stage for one night Sunday evening at the Forest Hills Fine Arts Center. Based on the movie series, the live action score features 19 songs, dancing and breathtaking scenery.
