The Griffins' Great Skate Winterfest returns to Rosa Parks Circle this weekend, plus the 'Living Well' expo debuts and HopCat celebrates five years with the Crack Fries-Eating Contest.
Symphonie Fantastique - The Grand Rapids Symphony performs the fast-moving French program at DeVos Hall that draws together a violin soloist, a brass ensemble and the popular and cinematic 'Symphonie fantastique'. Tickets: $18+.
Living Well - The new expo 'Living Well - Grand Rapids' opens at DeVos Place this weekend. The show will reflect the growing interest in health and personal wellness in West Michigan with exhibitors, vendors, classes, competitions and more. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for kids.
Heavyweights of Rock - The local battle of rock bands returns to The Intersection beginning January 11. See Withhold The Blood, The Severed Process, As Empires Decay, Seraphim, Pass of Aggression, & Neqriem compete in round 1. Ages 17+ welcome.
Grand Rapids Bridal Show - The Grand Rapids Bridal Show at DeVos Place this weekend adjacent to the new 'Living Well' Expo will have more than 100 local wedding professionals and vendors on hand, as well as door prizes and the latest in bridal fashions. One ticket is free with registration.

Griffins vs. Peoria - It's Mascot Mania Night at Van Andel Arena; various local mascots will roam the concourse and interact with fans throughout the game, plus the first 2,500 fans will receive a Griffins Scarf. Tickets start at $14.
Griffins' Great Skate Winterfest - After the Griffins game, skate with the players on the ice at Rosa Parks Circle for 24 hours. The fundraiser for the Griffins' Youth Foundation will also family activities, games and booths set up during the day on Saturday.
Crack-Fries Eating Contest - HopCat celebrates its fifth birthday with the annual crack-fries eating contest. The grand prize winner will receive $500 cash, plus onlookers can get an order of free crack fries from noon until 5 p.m. (with purchase).

Bard on the Run - It's Shakespeare at breakneck speed at Dog Story Theater on Jefferson SE in downtown GR. The Pigeon Creek Company will perform their take of 'Twelfth Night' complete with mistaken twins, women in drag, rebellious servants, pranks, drinking and other hurly-burly. Tickets are $6 & $12.
