J. Gardella's

Located a few storefronts down from Bar Divani, Gardella's makes its home in a turn-of-the-century building complete with exposed brick walls, hardwood floors and embossed metal ceilings. Each of the three floors offer a slightly different atmosphere. The upstairs has been recently remodeled to include plush booths and a plasma tv; the basement has a jukebox, pool table and games and the main level features classic architecture and decor. Everyday bar food is on the menu: cheese fries, onion rings, burgers, sandwiches along with wraps, salads and a burrito entree.

Hours: Mon-Friday 11 a.m. - 2 a.m., Saturday 4 p.m. - 2 a.m.

General price range: Pricing is the same for lunch and dinner with the average cost at about $6 for appetizers and sandwiches, $7 for burgers and salads and $9 for entrees. All drinks are half price on Wednesdays from 5-11 p.m.

Poor Service

Ate there with my family and some friends. Most of the food we ordered was made wrong. My Mediterranean wrap was just hummus with none of the vegetables or lamb I asked for. The chicken strips we ordered for the kids came to the table as Quesadillas for some reason. The nacho bean dip also tasted like BBQ sauce, a culinary mystery that's sure to go unanswered.

Our waitress ignored us for most of the night. She didn't give us refills, and I had to go behind the counter to get silverware for everybody.

The final bill was also very expensive, considering we didn't have to pay for the wrap.

Considering the sheer number of taverns I passed on the way both to and from Gardella's, I have no reason to return there.

Bar None the Best Bar in Grand Rapids. Gardellas has been the coolest bar in GR since 1996. Bulls Head is a close second

Horrible...

I've been to Gardellas many times, but last night made me want to never come back. We got there and sat for about 15 min before a server came over, we ordered our drinks and asked for a menu, she brought us the menu and took our cash, she said she would be right back with change and to take our order, we sat for nearly a half hour with no sign of her, so we just left..she got a nice tip unfortunatley...I will not be going back there for a long time.

This place is a great low key bar. Wednesdays are great here cause everything is 1/2 off. Drinks are usually strong and the food is good.

Best laidback hangout bar in GR!

Gardella's has awesome drink specials on weekdays and is one of the few bars in GR you can smoke a cigar or pipe with no grief. Ask for Sean as your bartender for outstanding service!

Gardella's is a cool place to hang out and get a strong drink. It has three floors, and I believe they have live music upstairs on the weekends now. Wednesday's are cool because it is half off ALL DRINKS from 5-11. It is a nice place to take a break from the dance club atmosphere across the street.
