It’s always wonderful when an event occurs that brings art to the community. The West Michigan area is lucky to have so many of these events happening on a regular basis. One event to look forward to is the annual Lakeshore Art Festival. The festival will be coming to Muskegon this year on Friday July 6 and Saturday July 7. Read on to find out what guests have to look forward to.
Those who look forward to the festival every year will be excited to know that there will be even more unique and artful activities to look forward to this July. These will include:
- Kayak Sculpture Public Art Project: This unique project will include seven sculptures that incorporate the use of actual kayaks. The project will be unveiled right before the festival on July 5 and will be on display throughout the summer.
- Emerging Authors Tent: 18 authors will be incorporated into this year’s event, showcasing their original books on a variety of topics
- The Door Project: This is a community project that utilizes upcycled doors and turns them into works of art. The public can join in with interactive door painting activities.
In addition to these unique new exhibits, guests can also enjoy an expanded festival for this year. To accommodate the increasing number of exhibitors, two new streets will be added to make room for all the artwork that will be displayed. Other favorites will be brought back from last year like the Wine and Craft Beer Garden, Student Art Showcase, Chalk the Walk event and live entertainment at Children’s Lane.
The Lakeshore Art Festival serves to showcase great pieces of art as well as bring a since of community to the Muskegon area. Mark your calendars to be sure you are available to attend this worthwhile event. We can’t wait to see you there!
