  • bit.ly

Grand Rapids is a city that is thriving, growing and shifting. An upcoming transition locals can look forward to will be taking place at the Local 741. New ownership has been announced at this location, by James Matthews, with its new identity as the Iron Well – a neighborhood bar that’s ‘a little bit country, a little bit rock n’ roll’.

Location | 741 Leonard St. NW {Near Alpine Ave.}

Speciality | A neighborhood bar that promises to be a comfy, casual hang out for sports and music enthusiasts alike!

Although the Iron Well is in its remodeling stages, they are open to the public and hoping to create an atmosphere that is warm and inviting. A few noteworthy features include televisions, A Golden Tee golf arcade, and a brand new juke box. They are also partnering with Grand Rapids Sports and Social with hopes to be a location where guests can grab a drink after their sporting events.

The Iron Well will continue to be considerate of the former Local 741’s crew and shows as much as possible. They will also feature an open mic night every Wednesday starting on May 8 and running until August 29. There will also be live music on their lineup. Here are the events that have been added to the bar’s calendar:

  • 5/11: Astro Jackson
  • 5/31 DJ the DJ
  • 6/7: Punks for Pussy: A Fundraiser for Crashes Landing
  • 6/15: The Turbos at 741 with Chris Clayton Loop

While no official date has been released for the grand opening, Matthews invites locals to stop in to experience the transition during the remodel. Be sure to tune into their Facebook page for more details. In the meantime, we will be figuring out which song to pick from their jukebox! We can’t wait to see you there!
