As the Festival of the Arts looks forward to its 50th anniversary in June of 2019, the organization is excited to announce its honorary co-chairs for the event. Glenn Del Vecchio, Executive Director of the Grand Rapids Ballet, and James Sofranko, Artistic Director for the Grand Rapids Ballet have been elected for this honorary position. Find out more about what the two plan to bring to the upcoming event.

The Grand Rapids Ballet and Festival of the Arts have been closely linked ever since the Ballet performed at the very first festival 50 years ago. The organization is setting out on a new path, looking to select leaders from partnering art institutions in the coming years and The Grand Rapids Ballet seemed like a great place to start.

The two are thrilled to be onboard for this exciting event. Sofranko is looking forward to bringing high-quality performances to this free event; which has always represented inclusion and diversity. Del Vecchio’s has previous experience serving on a number of executive boards in the community which is sure to enhance the Festival on all levels.

The newly appointed co-chairs will be working alongside David Abbott, who has long been working with the festival on an interim basis and recently has been assigned the newly created position of executive director. He is excited to be working with Del Vecchio and Sofranko and is looking forward to making the 50th anniversary a memorable experience for everyone.
