The arts are a very important part of a child’s curriculum but are often not encouraged enough in today’s school systems. That’s why it is so exciting for Union High School students to be experiencing an art demonstration by world-renowned artist Deborah Shedrick. The event will be taking place on Oct. 11, 2018, from 1-2:30 PM. Find out more about this artist and what the students can be looking forward to.

Shedrick’s artwork can be described as textural, vibrant and abstract. Her distinctive style has earned her a place in the art world allowing her to be featured in numerous collections around the world, in hotels and on book covers. She has also won countless awards and has been covered in many newspapers and magazines.

Shedrick will be visiting the city as a guest of the NIA Centre for the ‘My Story’ event. In addition to participating in the event and meeting with the high school students, she will also be presenting a public exhibition of her work at the Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community from 3:00 – 5:00 PM and 7:00 – 8:30 PM.

With the many art related events happening in the city, it is exciting to be gearing up for this well-known artist’s visit. Taking the time to visit the city’s children and give the residents an opportunity to experience her art will truly be a gift. Hopefully, you will get a chance to meet up with Shedrick at some point during her stay.
