The Woodland Mall has long been a staple of the Grand Rapids area since its opening in 1968. It’s ongoing expansion has been an exciting topic locally for some time now. Recently, the mall has undergone a $100 million renovation that has led to the opening of a new west wing featuring new retailers who debuted their shops in recent months.

Cecily McCabe, Woodland Mall’s marketing director, explains that the renovations are a direct response to the dwindling brick and mortar shopping market. As online retailers are taking over, consumers need to be reminded that malls offer, not just a place to purchase retail items, but an interactive live experience. 1 | Von Maur | Opened October 2019

  • The anchor retailer, Von Maur, is a department store in the previous location of Sears. This space takes up 90,000 square feet and it is the first location to open in the region.

  • This is the first location in West Michigan. Urban Outfitters has the latest in mens and women’s apparel, shoes, apartment decor and more!

  • This Minnesota and Michigan based business specializes in all things great outdoors. Their sporting goods store carries ultralight paddle boards, kayaks, utility docks, paddle gear and apparel.

  • Located next to Urban Outfitters, Black Rock Bar & Grill offers an experience unlike any other. This award winning steakhouse allows YOU to be the chef while cooking your steak to perfection on a 755-degree volcanic sizzling rock! Black Rock Bar and Grill is also founded in Michigan and the Woodland Mall location is its 17th!

5 | The Cheesecake Factory | Opened November 2019

  • If the 50 signature cheesecakes and desserts aren’t enough to whet your appetite, their extensive 250 menu items will keep you coming back for more. This is the first Cheesecake Factory in West Michigan and is located next to Barnes and Noble {best entrance near On the Border}.

  • Founded in 2003, Tricho Salon is the leading hair and salon group in Metro Detroit. You will be able to find their location in the Von Maur wing.


7 | Sephora | SPRING 2020

  • Sephora is a cosmetics store that sells over 300 brands of beauty products as well as its own private label brand. The space offers an open-air atmosphere that encourages an interactive shopping experience with beauty experts as well as a wide selection of makeup, skin care and fragrances.
