The ‘Folding Forms’ Tour + Workshop is open to elementary school aged homeschool students. This gallery tour + workshop will provide students with a look at the exhibition Before Words featuring work from artist Kennedy Yanko , and the opportunity to learn about and discuss abstract sculpture and forms. Following the tour, students will be led through hands-on activities in The Studio. There they will learn about mixed media building techniques and create a unique work of art to take home. Prior to the event date, all attendees will receive detailed information about the program as well as required forms/releases. This information will be delivered to the corresponding Eventbrite registration email address. The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA) is Michigan’s largest contemporary arts center, featuring artwork from regional, national and international contemporary artists. Educational programs at UICA offer guests of all ages a genuine experience with contemporary art. Programming that takes place in our galleries and studios invite students to engage with contemporary issues, deepen their creativity, and develop new ways of seeing the world. Students will participate in conversations, meet creative professionals, and express themselves with hands-on art-making activities.
