SEPTEMBER UPDATE: Neighbors are still invited to join us at our September 5 meeting to ask questions of a representative of Marcona on Lyon, but we will no longer be formally discussing the proposed new restaurant at 623 Lyon, due to the following new information:
“The Grand Rapids Planning Department determined that Marcona on Lyon does not need to obtain a special land use for its requested reduction of off-street parking requirements. Rather the staff determined that an administrative departure will be granted. This was in part a result of a change in plans of a tenant of the adjacent building and a shared parking agreement for the parking lot at 609 Lyon. Thus there is no need for us to meet to discuss this. Thank you for agreeing to meet. We may meet again as the Martha’s Vineyard corner is a popular spot and there is one space available for retail/entertainment (621 Lyon). If a prospective tenant is required to have off-street parking then we may need to discuss a special land use with you.”
