Read on to find what you can expect when helping the GRAM celebrate this special day.
The GRAM has long been a staple of the Grand Rapids community offering a number of events and featuring both permanent and rotating exhibitions. Currently they are showing Anila Quayyum Agha: Intersections and Mirror Variation: The Art of Monir Sharoudy Farmanfarmaian, an exhibition that combines Islamic tradition and modern abstraction. They are also showing Oswaldo Vargas: Transformations, a modern art exhibition which incorporates South American traditions and Western modernism.
Those who come to the museum on Friday will be able to view both of these exhibits for free, as well as its countless other collections that range from Renaissance to Modern Art. In addition to that, those who join online as a new GRAM member between May 14 and 18 will get an additional 3 months of membership for free when they use the code IHEARTART at checkout. Those who join in person can get a two year membership for the price of one, as well as exclusive access to the Member Exhibition Opening which takes place from 7-9 PM on the 18th.
The GRAM is constantly providing the community with events, educational resources and the opportunity to view stunning works of art. May 18 will be the perfect day to pay a visit, to remind yourself what this institution offers the Grand Rapids area. For those who have not yet taken a trip to the GRAM, Art Museum Day will give you the perfect occasion to do so. How will you be celebrating art on this special day?
