Grand City Sports Awards Ceremony Comes to the Wealthy Theatre August 4

Grand City Sports is a nonprofit that has been an integral part of the Grand Rapids community for 10 years. GCS works to help the city’s youth restore and refocus through sports and education, giving them a better future and making Grand Rapids a safer place. The Grand City Sports City of Champions Youth Sports and Academic Awards will be taking place at the Wealthy Theatre on August 4 at 6 PM. The ceremony was created to honor youth athletes who have showed exemplary behavior in the West Michigan area. It also honors those who have helped contribute to the community.

The awards ceremony serves as a fundraiser for the organization. Grand City Sports is hoping to increase funding for operation and create a budget for its staff. It is also looking to increase its corporate partnerships. The nonprofit is hoping to generate 80% of its yearly budget off of this annual event.

Grand City Sports has brought a number of programs to the community in the hopes of providing a bright future for its youth. These include a number of sports programs and events including its Turkey Giveaway, its Cancer Walk and its Hat and Glove Giveaway.
