The Grand Rapids restaurant scene is constantly changing and evolving. Local restaurant owner Rachel Lee recently shifted direction when she closed her tiki bar, Citizen, for roof repairs last fall. While the space underwent renovations, Lee decided to make a move that will allow her business to appeal to a wider demographic. The restaurant reopened as River North Public House on July 1st

Lee describes the new concept as a “family friendly neighborhood public house”. The menu features shareable eats, salads, burgers, sandwiches, desserts and a kid’s menu. There’s also a Happy Hour from 3PM to 6PM on weekdays. This is a notable change from Citizen – fusion style food, Indonesian influences and a 21+ crowd.

River North Public House is in the process of hiring a new staff. Katelynn Hale has taken on the role as head chef and Becca Davis is the front of house manager. More hires are expected to be added to the team in the future.

We are confident that Lee’s new venture will be successful in appealing to a wider demographic. We can’t wait to stop by and see what GRAND NEW vibes River North Public House has in store.
