Texas de Brazil is an authentic churrascaria featuring a continuous dining experience that blends the unique culture of Brazil, with the hospitality of Texas. The menu features a vast selection of grilled meats, 50-item salad area, award-winning wine list and a la carte dessert selections. Founded as a family-owned business in 1998, Texas de Brazil is now the largest Brazilian-American steakhouse brand in the world, with restaurants in 23 states and eight countries.

“When we first showed them around Grand Rapids, Texas de Brazil commented on the vibrancy of downtown Grand Rapids and the building’s location in the center of the city. They were quick to recognize the site’s close proximity to the DeVos Place Convention Center, hotels, law firms, banks, and financial companies all located in the core of downtown Grand Rapids,” says Scott Wierda, Managing Partner of CWD Real Estate Investment.

“This is another unique addition to the city’s restaurant scene. Grand Rapids’ diverse selection of dining options in the city’s core is a valuable asset to visitors, residents and other businesses,” says Doug Small, President and CEO of Experience Grand Rapids. “Restaurants with a recognizable, national brand such as this, offer a strong complement to the Convention Center, hotels, and various community events that take place downtown.”

With Texas de Brazil’s addition to 111 Lyon, CWD has high hopes for the impact this project will have on Grand Rapids’ Central Business District. “We have always been confident there was a huge opportunity to activate Lyon Street with restaurants and retail to serve all the businesses, employees, and visitors in downtown. We expect Texas de Brazil to be well received by our community as well as drawing other restaurants/retail to this site” says Wierda.

CWD recently announced plans to create new retail spaces along Lyon Street to help reactivate the corridor. The $6M project will create 3-5 new storefronts at 111 Lyon. Texas de Brazil will anchor this new retail corridor, occupying the western corner.

“We are thrilled to be opening our second location in the state of Michigan and we look forward to bringing our Brazilian churrasco to the urban core of the city and its residents in Downtown Grand Rapids. The city’s charm and welcoming environment combine to create an ideal setting for a dining destination and we’re excited to become a part of this rich community,” says Salim Asrawi, President and Chief Operating Officer for the authentic Brazilian steakhouse brand.

The Brazilian steakhouse will occupy over 6,700 square feet of the 15,000 square feet of retail spaces available at 111 Lyon. Construction on the new storefronts will begin in December 2019. We can’t wait to visit Texas de Brazil as soon as its doors open in 2021.
