GR{KNOW} | The 6th Annual Grand Rapids Improv Festival Is Back

The GRIF (Grand Rapids Improv Festival) is returning to the Grand Rapids area. The festival will take place from Oct. 24-28 and is set to be the biggest and best yet with 38 troupes to participate in performances, workshops and special events. Each show during the festival will be taking place at The Comedy Project. Read on for a rundown of the event schedule {be sure to follow the live links to purchase tickets to each event}.

Thursday, October 24

7 PMThe Glow Show: This event will be an improv hop where fans can gather and travel from one place to another for drinks and entertainment. The ticket price includes a drink ticket and admission to all three of the venues that will be visited. There will also be glow sticks and glow in the dark accessories provided, hence the name. 

Friday, October 25

8 PMThe Laffy Taffy Show: Four troupes will be performing hilarious and fast paced improv. Get ready to share your best jokes – there is plenty of audience involvement!

10 PMThe Golden Ticket Headliner Show: Presented by Adal & Eric, this 2 person show revolves around friends who don’t enjoy playing together because they always make each other cry or laugh. The play goes deep exploring psychological twists as well as elements of fantasy and the supernatural.

Saturday October 26

11 AMImprov in Podcasting: A Panel Workshop: Today, podcasts are the hottest trend when it comes to effective forms of media. If you want to get in on the action, improvising dialogue will be essential in keeping things lively. This workshop will provide valuable information on how to get started in podcasting and how to form an idea for your podcast and run with it. 

130 PMWhat’s Already There: Whether you are interested in improv or any other creative process, you know what it’s like to be staring down at a blank page. This workshop helps you focus during the first 10 seconds of your scene allowing you to build content that will last an entire show. 

5 PMSugarcoated: This comedy performance with five acts is sure to appeal to everyone’s sweet tooth. 

8 PMThe Candy Bar: The dessert style fun keeps coming with some tasty comedic treats featuring four improv troupes.

10 PMPop Rocks: Try this improv show for an explosive night cap. 

Sunday, October 27

4 PMGranny Candy: Sticking with the candy theme, this show features five troupes bringing you the finest in Sunday matinee entertainment. 

Monday, October 28

7 PMCom-Fectioners (GRIF Closing Ceremony): This Comedy Outlet Monday will be transformed into the GRIF closing ceremony.
