No Grand Rapids holiday season would be complete without the annual lighting of the Christmas tree in Rosa Park Circle. This year, the Light Up Downtown will take place on Friday, December 1 from 5-7 PM. The entire evening will be filled with festive activities, so mark your calendars for a night of holiday fun!
The celebration kicks off at 5:00 sharp with renditions of your favorite holiday classics sung by the Good Tidings Caroling Company. Their angelic voices will serve as the musical accompaniment to the Western Michigan University Synchronized Skaters whose performance will commemorate the official opening of the skating rink.
At 5:35, Mayor Rosalynn Bliss will be accompanied by WYCE’s Quinn Matthews and Gabrielle De La Vega in wishing you the happiest of holiday seasons. And then… the excitement reaches a peak when the tree is lit and the ice rink is opened to the public at 5:45. There will also be food trucks offering festive meals and refreshments.
Light Up Downtown is a Grand Rapids event that is is not to be missed! Join your community as they kick off the holiday season with this spectacular annual event.
