Exciting news comes to the Grand Rapids area as local personal chef, Jenn Fillenworth MS, RD–AKA Jenny with the Good Eats–will be competing on Food Network’s ‘Supermarket Stakeout’ on Tuesday, January 19th.
Supermarket Stakeout is hosted by Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli. Each episode features four chefs staked out in grocery store parking lots. The chefs must approach shoppers exiting the store and negotiate with them to buy their purchased items which they must then use in dishes prepared at separate stations in the lot.
Each chef is given $500 to be put towards buying the groceries off shoppers. After the third round of the game, the last remaining chef’s cash total is increased to $10,000.
The Grand Rapids chef was originally asked to appear on the show in 2019 but a serious car accident and COVID delayed the appearance. “I put in a lot of work over the past year to get physically stronger to be able to do something this physical and demanding. It has been such a long battle over the past year and I’m beyond thankful for this opportunity and to represent Grand Rapids on National television,” Fillenworth explains.
Fillenworth is a personal chef and registered dietician. She works as a freelance culinary dietitian involved in everything from recipe development, food photography, personal chef events, and even televised media segments. She also works as an adjunct professor at her former culinary school, Secchia Institute for Culinary Education at Grand Rapids Community College.
Tune in on the 19th to find out if she wins it for the Grand Rapids area.
