The Meijer State Games of Michigan-Summer Games Returns in 2018

Do you love watching sports? Participating? Enjoy building a sense of community? Then mark your calendars for the weekend on Jun 22-24 when the 2018 Meijer State Games of Michigan – Summer Games will be taking place!

The Meijer State Games is an annual event that began in 2010. It welcomes athletes regardless of age or ability. The event features a variety of sports and a number of venues. The athletes participating compete to promote a sense of sportsmanship, healthy living and participation throughout the community.

This year’s event will offer 39 sports at 49 different venues and an estimated 8,000+ athletes participating. Among the sports included are the newly added archery tag, footgolf, shooting sports, ninja warrior competition and paintball. These are all in addition to annual favorites like waterskiing, bowling, boxing, cycling, cricket and more.

Dates to note include the Opening Ceremony which will be taking place at East Kentwood High School. Olympic Day will also be a special event taking place June 23 at the high school. Here Olympians will be honored for their accomplishments in their athletic careers. They will also be passing out medals to winners of this year’s games.

The Meijer State Games are open to the public and spectatorship is strongly encouraged. The Summer Games are also still looking for volunteers to help make it a success. Find out how you can be a part of this terrific event and worthwhile cause.
