No need to sharpen your pencils and open your textbooks — The Bar Exam at Paddock Place is not like any school program you’ve experienced before.
At this type of “Bar Exam,” you won’t have to learn about tort, but we plan on covering port. In this weekly informational and interactive “class,” attendees will sip and learn about their favorite drinks in addition to discovering new ones.
Each week, a special guest presenter will teach attendees about rotating themes revolving around beer, wine, and cocktails. Classes are taught by industry professionals such as brewers, distillers, mixologists, and distributors who share their expertise in an hour-long program focused on their craft. For example, attendees can learn how to make four new cocktails with a seasoned mixologist one week, and the next week, a chef will show them how to pair local craft beers with their favorite dishes.
Concurrently, Paddock Place has opened its bar with weekly drink features and handmade appetizers that coincide with The Bar Exam themes. Stay late after class and enjoy the cash bar and live music by local musicians such as Serita’s Black Rose and members of Brena.
Previous The Bar Exam themes included “The Michi-CAN Brewery Showcase” where eight Michigan breweries shared their favorite spring brews and “Fermented Yoga” where yogis enjoyed their drink of choice while working on balance and breathing exercises.
Paddock Place announces new themes each month. In May, attendees can enjoy a lesson on how to make spring cocktails, a Bulleit bourbon and whiskey cocktail tasting, rosés from around the world, and more. On May 21, over 20 Michigan wineries, bakeries, cheese makers, and more will showcase their wares – perfect for event planners and lovers of all things local to Michigan.
Tickets are available in advance for $15 each via Eventbrite and at the door for $18. This is a 21+ only event.
